About
Us
It all started with the dynamic leader that it is Kasey Crispin, co- founder of Prema Farms and former executive director of the Riverside Farmers Market, saw a need in our region for more support within the small food start up business scene. She wanted the market to have a robust and varied representation of delicious locally crafted food but discovered there was a lack of commercial kitchen space- let alone affordable space- to make people’s small business dreams a reality.

She knew that the market could provide a consistent source of income as it did with Prema Farm so she did what any intelligent, determined, and resilient leader does and; with the help of Brook Marlow from Terroir Herbals and a community advocate who researched, discovered, applied for and was awarded the Healthy Food Financing Grant, which has helped us fund the leasing of a commissary, community run kitchen that could support dozens of small businesses.

And here we are! Local Food Network was awarded the grant in October of 2023 and Philip Moore, the Great Basin Community Food Co-op’s now Local Food Coordiantor, helped us create a business plan, find a place to leave, and hire Italian Hearts Pasta Sauce to manage the project. Beloved Bread has been there since the beginning, and John and Alicia from Sasquatch crackers came on board in early 2024 and have helped with operations amongst many other matters.
We were hoping to open in February but have had a few health department hurdles that we are working through with them and the City of Reno and are looking forward to opening in April.
Nourish & Flourish Kitchen and Market is managed under the Local Food Network non-profit along with Riverside Farmers Market and Reno Mobile Market. You can follow us on social media but we prefer in person: Riverside Farmers Market is at Idlewild Park every Sunday from 9am-12pm. And you can order a regionally sourced locally grown food box from Reno Mobile Market every week too and either pick up at the market or have it delivered. If you haven’t already, please check out both offerings each Sunday, your belly and heart will thank you!
